MANIPAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), A Constituent Unit of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, Karnataka plays a vital role in producing world-class engineers tuned to the demands of a fast-changing global village. Starting in 1957 as Manipal Engineering College, MIT was the first self-financed engineering college in India. It offers 16 B. E. programs and 25 M. Tech programs in various disciplines. All the departments have well-equipped laboratories and modern multimedia classrooms. In addition, there are a number of central facilities which include a central library housed in a separate building with a total area of about 70000 sq. ft., a well-equipped workshop, sports and games facilities with indoor and outdoor playgrounds, central computing facility equipped with state-of-the-art computers and peripherals. The campus has an excellent infrastructure for academic activities, sports, and other extracurricular activities. The infrastructure includes an air-conditioned cuisine food court. The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE), started in the year 1960 is the largest in the Institute comprising 2 undergraduate and 4 postgraduate programs including a plethora of Minor specializations. In addition, the Department also indulges in a Dual Degree program with Deakin University, Australia. The department's strength lies in having a good number of experienced and well-qualified faculty (91) and state-of-the-art infrastructural facilities. Innovative teaching methods are followed to impart quality education to the students. Department is recognized as Quality Improvement Program (QIP) minor Centre by MHRD, Govt. of India, which has given a boost to the research activities in the department. Mechatronics Engineering program at Manipal University Jaipur is a multidisciplinary domain of engineering with emphasis on mechanical, electronics, instrumentation, and electrical systems. It also includes a combination of artificial intelligence, robotics, automation, computer programming and manufacturing processes. Mechatronics Engineering program at MUJ is designed to keep in mind the industrial requirement for engineers with multidisciplinary abilities. It allows graduates to learn about microprocessors and microcontrollers, robotics, programmable logic controller, sensors, automation, instrumentation, and electrical systems & drives.
