Presently, working as a Vice Principal, Professor and Head of the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology at K.L.E.S’ Institute of Dental Sciences, Bangalore, India.
His special interests include “Prevention, Early Detection and Treatment of Oral Cancer.” He has served as editor-in-chief of the World Journal of Dentistry, in addition to being awarded prestigious NIH grant for oral cancer research. He has designed and scaled up a mobile health program for early detection of oral cancer in low resource settings in India, which has positively impacted thousands of people. This work is unique as it bridges health and technology. He has served as resource person for training professionals and non-professionals for early oral cancer detection program which has addressed the unmet medical need.
His research on artificial intelligence to reduce the workload of the specialist and decentralize cancer care is presently being explored. He has won numerous awards; a few to be mentioned are NASSCOM – Innovation Award, Best Social Innovation Award and WHO – Public health Challenge award 2015. He has also been honored with the Best Teaching Faculty for Academic Excellence award during 95th KLE Foundation day.
