Pre- Conference Workshops will provide exposure to distinctive fields of dentistry and research by the means of hands-on training by renowned specialists. CONE BEAM COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY: INTERPRETATION AND CLINICAL APPLICATIONS

3D imaging has revolutionized the diagnostic accuracy of the maxillofacial region. Since its advent, Cone Beam Computed Tomography has become an integral and essential part of maxillofacial radiology. It is imperative that every undergraduate student be equipped with skills of acquiring a reconstructed image and understand the basics of interpreting and using the acquired diagnostic information in order to provide his/her patients quality care. The objectives of this hands on workshop are:

2.Sectional anatomy
3.Nerve tracing
4.Pathology identification

FORENSIC ODONTOLOGY: Tell Tale Teeth 2019

Forensic odontology is an emerging field in dentistry. Dentists are qualified for presenting legal evidence to the court helping solve homicides, mass disasters etc.

 This intensive workshop in the essentials of forensic odontology will focus on 3 major techniques:

1.Radiographic technique of age estimation in adults using Kvaal’s method.
2.Histological technique of age estimation using Gustafsons method.
3.Gender differentiation using parameters of mandibular ramus.

Management of Medical Emergencies in the Dental office

A dentist's role in managing any medical emergency begins with prevention and this requires that one be prepared for such emergencies. Managing numerous potential medical emergencies will require administration of intravenous, intramuscular injection and securing an IV cannula.
In case of medical crisis, one should be competent to perform the cardio pulmonary resuscitation and should be trained in basic life support with the use of AED
This workshop is specially designed to equip dental students to manage life threatening emergencies. This workshop is organized in collaboration with Maxfacs Skill Center, MCODS Mangalore and is aimed to train you in
- Basic Life Support (CPR using AED)
- IV and IM injection technique
- Securing an IV cannula

Veneer

The ceramic laminate veneer has become synonymous with aesthetic restorative dentistry. The adhesive ceramic technology used for porcelain veneers has revolutionized restorative dentistry providing the ultimate in esthetic restorations at minimum sacrifice of tooth structure.

Bonded porcelain veneers were initially considered as treatment options for simple cosmetic corrections. However despite the early skepticism they have since emerged as one of the most successful and conservative treatment modalities for both aesthetic and reconstructive dentistry.

In this course, all the fundamental basics required to achieve predictable success with ceramic veneers will be covered along with a demonstration of the clinical procedures involved. This will be followed by a hands-on session on the clinical procedures relating to Ceramic Laminate restorations.
