Dr. Kahar Osman is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Engineering, UTM, Malaysia. He is active in the Computational Fluid Mechanics Group and IJN-UTM Cardiovascular Engineering Center. His research interests include application of computational fluid mechanics (CFD), fluid-structure interaction (FSI) and experimental techniques in the study of mechanical and cardiovascular systems, as well as analysis, design, and optimizations of cardiovascular devices. He has been practicing CFD for more than 25 years. He started his work in flow modelling in the area of mechanical engineering and moved to biomedical engineering field since 10 years ago. He and his team has produced their own code for CFD modelling for bio-fluid. He is also currently working on stent development for different application. He has published more than 120 articles in peer reviewed journals and proceedings. He is currently attached to the School of Biomedical Engineering and Health Sciences at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. To date, he has led 15 projects as principal investigator and 26 projects as co-investigator. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed academic journal articles in various level of publications.


Dr. Chithirai Pon Selvan

Dr. Chithirai Pon Selvan obtained his Bachelors in Production Engineering, Masters in Computer Aided Design and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Pon Selvan has over twenty years of experience in teaching, educational assessment, classroom management and student relations. He has published 100+ research articles in international journals and conferences. He has been invited and honored as keynote speaker, session chair, resource person and technical committee member in various conferences in UAE, India, Thailand, Malaysia, UK, Germany & Italy. He has organized many conferences and he is in the editorial board of more than 50 international journals. His research interests are in the areas of machine design, optimization techniques and manufacturing practices, particularly non-traditional manufacturing methods. He is a well-known researcher in the field of Abrasive Waterjet Cutting Technology and has evaluated several Ph.D. theses in Mechanical Engineering from various universities. He is a member of “Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE)”, “American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE)”, “Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE)”, American Society of Quality (ASQ) and “Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE)”.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Fazli Abdul Aziz

Dr Ahmad Fazli graduated with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Sydney, Australia in 1999. He subsequently completed his internship in the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. He joined University Putra Malaysia in 2003 and underwent physician training Hospital Kuala Lumpur and obtained MRCP (UK) in 2005 followed by cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology training. He obtained Certification as EP Specialist (CEPS) from the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) in 2016. Previously, he was the Head of Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UPM. Currently he is an Associate Professor of Medicine in University Putra Malaysia and practising cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiologist in Hospital Serdang.


Dr. Mohamad Aizat Abas

Dr Mohamad Aizat Abas is a lecturer at the School of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia. He obtained First Class Bachelor (BEng) and Master (MEng) degrees in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nottingham, Nottingham, United Kingdom in 2008 and 2009, respectively. He was awarded Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2013 for his contribution on Fluid-Structure Interaction Analysis. His recent research interests are related to fluid-structure interaction problems with applications to Electronic Packaging (design of multi-stack electronic package and ultra-fine package), Biomedical (design of stent and artificial heart valve) and Civil (Dam Reliability Study). He has obtained many national/international grants relating to his field of studies. Previously, he has worked as a Project Manager at PLUS Expressway Berhad and Motorola Solutions Berhad prior to joining USM.

He is currently actively involved with various consultancy projects on Malaysian dam management relating to flood analysis, vibration monitoring, erosion analysis, and turbine sand entrapment with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Kapar Energy Ventures (KEV), Malakoff Berhad and UNITEN. He is also working actively with National Hydraulic Research Institute of Malaysia for sediment transport and scouring problems in Sungai Sarawak barrage project.

He has publications in high impact/indexed journals, indexed proceedings, international and local conferences. He has also won many awards for his works on biomedical (rehab patients) and civil (water filtration system).
