Kiran Bir Sethi

An advocate of change, Kiran found that modern institutions don’t emphasis much upon imagination or emotional-well being and choice. Hence, in the year 2001, she set up her own school in Ahmedabad. The school focused on developing future citizen leaders of the country. The school has initiated the ‘aProCh’ (a protagonist in every child) which celebrates childhood. This programme has been followed by many schools across the country. Kiran became an Ashoka Fellow in 2008 and was honoured with the Patricia Blunt Koldyke Fellowship 2013 in Social Entrepreneurship. Her Design for Change initiatives won the INDEX – Design to Improve Life Award in 2011 and The Rockefeller Foundation Youth Innovation Award in 2012. aProCh won the Ashoka American Express ‘Serve2Gether’ Consultancy Award in 2013.

Shaheen Mistri

An Indian social activist and educator. Shaheen is the founder of the Akanksha Foundation, an Indian educational initiative in Mumbai and Pune. The foundation was started with just 15 children in one centre, now teaches 3500 children in 58 centres. In 2008, She took on a leadership role at Teach for India. Shaheen also sits on the boards of Ummeed, and The Thermex Social Initiatives Foundation and is an advisor to the Latika Roy Foundation. She has been awarded the Ashoka Fellow in 2001 followed by Global Leader for Tomorrow at the World Economic Forum in 2002 and Asia Society 21 Leader in the year 2006.
