Hackathon on Social Change



Dear Students,

Have you been thinking of society’s problems lately and do not know how to go about it? Do you feel like your knowledge and expertise can change the society but do not know which problem area you should choose?

Do you think finding problems in the society and solving them is more important than coming up with some repetitive applications or systems?

Here is the answer for all these questions……


We are here with a platform for you to team up and create solutions to issues that are very dear to you and provide lasting solutions to these problems. Come join this mission to bring out a social change through Innovation by volunteering. The Innovation Centre, MAHE and Volunteer Services Organization (VSO), MAHE are jointly organizing this unique hackathon for solving social problems. This immersive hackathon will provide a platform to get connect with several immersive areas of VSO to identify the problem and provide the solution.

Hackathon has evolutionary phases which will be explained in detail through orientation.

This is a distinct opportunity for you to immerse with several social problems and will essentially help you to identify problems, work in multidisciplinary teams and provide the best solution.

Need of Hackathon
Students should get the platform to explore and solve some of the problems which are related to society. They inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem-solving.

  • Beach Clean Up Campaign
  • Clean Manipal Campaign
  • Campaign at Slums (educational & health)
  • Paediatric ward campaign
  • Campaign at Paediatric cancer ward
  • Campaign at Psychiatric Rehabilitation Centre
  • Campaign at Home for special people
  • Campaign at Orphanage
  • Campaign at Old age home visit
  • Village school campaign

Individual Registration for the Hackathon by filling the Online Form I

Orientation and Sensitization for participants in various social/immersing areas handled by VSO

August 27, 2022

Level I Immersion at the place chosen by all the participants to identify five problem statements/areas

August 28,2022

II

Participants filling in the Online Form II to enter five problem statements/areas per their interest order

September 02,2022

Formation of teams by organizers based on filled choices of problem statements/areas

September 03,2022

Level II Immersion will take place by the formed teams to work on a single problem statement/area and define the idea of the project

September 04,2022

III

Filling the form with an ideation document which should have a solution to the identified problem

September 10,2022

Level III Immersion (Optional) to identify more details about the identified problem

September 11,2022

IV

Displaying the Ideation in the form of poster presentation and provide details of solution in the form of 2 – 3 minutes video at the National Conference on Youth in Social Change

September 17,2022

Evaluation of Posters & Video by the Experts / Panellists
