About Manipal & Udupi
Udupi is a historic coastal town located just a few kilometres from Manipal. It is famous for its centuries-old temples, pristine beaches, and traditional cuisine. The Sri Krishna Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna, is a major pilgrimage site and a prominent landmark in Udupi. The town is also known for its delectable vegetarian cuisine, particularly the Udupi-style dishes and ice creams served in local restaurants and eateries. Udupi is surrounded by natural beauty, with serene beaches.
Manipal is well connected by road, rail and air. There are two main cities close to Manipal that serve as entry points – Udupi (5 km) and Mangalore (65 km).
By Air: Manipal is connected to the rest of the world through the international airport in Mangalore, which takes about one and a half hours by road. There are regular flights from Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore. Most Gulf countries also have direct flights to Mangalore. Pre-paid taxis are available at Mangalore airport.

By Rail: The closest railway stations are Udupi (6 km) and Mangalore (65 km). These railway stations lie on the Konkan route connecting North and South India along the west coast. Delhi and Mumbai (north) and Ernakulam (south) are linked to Udupi station.
Mangalore railway station is connected to Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Calicut, Cochin, Trivandrum, Mumbai and other major cities. Travellers from Kolkata can travel via Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore or Goa and take a connecting train to Mangalore. A weekly train also operates from Jammu to Mangalore.
