Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing

Started in the year 1960, the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (MME) is the largest department in the Institute comprising 2 undergraduate and 4 postgraduate programs. The department's strength lies in having a good number of experienced and well qualified faculty and state-of-the-art infrastructural facilities. Innovative teaching methods are followed to impart quality education to the students. Department is recognized as Quality Improvement Program (QIP) minor Centre by MHRD, Govt of India, which has given a boost to the research activities in the department.

About Bengaluru

Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka, occupies the heart of the Mysore Plateau with an average elevation of 920m (3,018 feet). With a population of approximately 11.55 million (2016), Bengaluru is India's third-largest city. It has a large number of lakes, the prominent among which are Sankey , Ulsoor and Yediyur lake. Kempegowda Bus Terminus in Bengaluru also known as the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus stand is located opposite the Bengaluru city railway station. Buses from here connect Bengaluru to all major cities and states in southern and western India. Bengaluru is well connected to all major Indian cities by rail. The train stations in Bengaluru include Bengaluru City, Bengaluru Cantonment, Yeshwantapur and Bengaluru East. It has an international airport at Devanhalli. Metered auto rickshaws, taxis and buses operated by BMTC provide good connectivity within the city.

Commmunications: Bengaluru provides the highest bandwidth in the country. The city's telephone system is serviced by almost all the major landline companies: BSNL, Tata Indicom, Reliance and Airtel. There are six mobile phone companies: GSM players include BSNL, Vodafone, Idea, Airtel; CDMA is offered by BSNL, Tata Indicom and Reliance. Several companies like BSNL, Tata Indicom, Bharati, Hathway, Reliance,Vodafone, Sify and YOU Telecom offer broadband Internet access.
