Dr. S. N. Omkar



Dr. S. N. Omkar’s research interests include Satellite Image Processing, Uninhabited Air Vehicles (UAV), Drone Computing, Nature-inspired algorithms, Biomechanics and Yoga. He is also pursuing several projects and research work in the area of Satellite and UAV image processing; Flood and Disaster Management; and Yoga. He has developed several algorithms and used them for a variety of applications like road extraction, flood assessment, crop classification, crop growth analysis, radiation monitoring etc. The other facet of Dr. Omkar's research includes composite design optimization using nature inspired techniques.

He has also pioneered in using biomechanical simulation framework for analysis of yogic postures. He has established a laboratory facility towards this. Dr. Omkar is also a celebrated practitioner and teacher of Yoga. He has been conferred the Karnataka State Rajyothsava Award from the Government of Karnataka and the Kempegowda Award from Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike for his contributions in the field of Yoga.

Dr. Paul Pang



Dr. Pang is an Associate Professor of cyber security and he leads the Internet Commerce Security Lab (ICSL) at the Institute of Innovation, Science and Sustainability, Federation University Australia. Before joining Federation University, he was a Professor of Data Analytics and the Director, Center of Computational Intelligence for Cybersecurity at the Unitec Institute of Technology, New Zealand.

Dr. Pang has acted as a Principal Investigator for over 13 research grant projects, totalling more than NZD$3.5 million in funding by the Ministry of Business, Employment and Innovation, NZ (MBIE), the Ministry for Primary Industries, NZ (MPI), the Health Research Council, NZ (HRC), the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology, Japan (NICT), Telecom NZ, Mitsubishi Electric Japan, LuojiaDeyi Technology China, and Lucent & Bell Lab USA.

His main research areas are Cyber Threat Intelligence and Applied Blockchain. He published over 100-refereed articles with international journals and conferences including IEEE TPDS, TSMC-B, TKDE, TNN, Neural Networks, Pattern Recognition, IEEE Cloud, IoT, and IEEE/ACM UCC. He had so far 1 patent and filed 3 patent applications with 1 sold to a NZ company.

Dr. Pang has received many awards of distinction including IEEE ICNNSP Best Paper Award (2003), IEEE DMAI Best Paper Award (2008), Unitec FCBI Research Excellency Award (2011-2012), Unitec FCBI Executive Dean Award (2012), Unitec Award for Meeting the Needs of Communities (2012), Unitec FCBI Research Excellency Award (2014), and Unitec Research with Impact Award (2015).

Dr. Pang is a Senior Member of IEEE, the Event Editor of Neural Network Journal Elsevier, the Vice President of Asia Pacific Neural Network Society (APNNS), a Global Judge for the 2018 AI summit London, and an Australian Research Council (ARC) Assessor for National Competitive Grant Program.

Dr. Gang Li



Gang Li is the university academic board member and full professor at Deakin University, and he is the AI director in the Strategic Research Center of Cyber Resilience and Trust (CREST). His research includes data mining, privacy preservation, group behavior analysis and business intelligence. He holds one international patent, and his research has been funded by various agencies, including ARC-LP, India’s Sparc Scheme and Hong Kong GRF. He has co-authored eight papers that won best paper prizes, including the KSEM 2018 best paper award, IFITT Journal Paper of the Year 2018, ACM/IEEE ASONAM2012 best paper award, the 2008 Nightingale Prize by Springer, etc.

Prof. Li serves as the chair for IEEE Task Force on Educational Data Mining (2020-2023), and on the IEEE Data Mining and Big Data Analytics Technical Committee (2017-2019 Vice Chair), IEEE Enterprise Information Systems Technical Committee. He is on the editorial board of prestigious journals including Decision Support Systems, Cyber Security, Tourism Management, Journal of Travel Research, Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research, etc.
