India will touch 192 million aging population by 2030 and by 2050, India will have 1 out of every 5th person as elderly. The National Health workforce account (NHWA,2018) and labor force survey, office (NSSO) survey, confirm 2.34 million nurses who serve the 1.3 million population against the Allopathy (1.16million), 1:20 million pharmacist, 0.27 million dentists and 0.79 Ayurveda practitioners but not sufficient to manage the existing chronic health concern of the community.
Nursing being the largest workforce, specialised nurses’ services is a way forward to bring down the burden of chronic disease management. Specialized skill development and costification for specific expertise is the need of the hour. Most of the chronic diseases can be focussed and managed using EBP to reduced complications.
