About Manipal Academy of Higher Education
Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) is synonymous with excellence in higher education. MAHE has been accorded the status of Institute of Eminence (IoE) by HRD, Government of India. Over 28,000 students from 57 different nations live, learn and play in the sprawling University town, nestled on a plateau in Karnataka’s Udupi district. It also has nearly 2500 faculty and almost 10000 other support and service staff, who cater to the various professional institutions in health sciences, engineering, management, communication and humanities which dot the Wi-Fi-enabled campus. About Manipal Institute of Technology
The Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal was established in 1957 as one of the first self-financing engineering colleges in the country. MIT offers a Bachelor’s and Master’s program in engineering streams. It also gives students the option to carry out full-time or part-time research. The institute undertakes sponsored research programs supported by funding agencies such as DST, CSIR, AICTE, and the Ministry of Environmental Sciences. It has collaborative research programs in association with premier research laboratories and institutes in India and abroad.
About the Department
The Department of Mathematics at Manipal Institute of Technology was started in 1957 and provides the students with the mathematical foundation required to analyse all engineering and applied science courses. Apart from this, it also provides the mathematical methods to formulate, analyse and to solve the problems of engineering and management through the higher level and elective courses. The faculty members help students in acquiring a conceptual understanding of the nature and structure of mathematics, its processes, and applications. The department caters to the needs of all B. Tech, M. Tech and MCA courses through regular and elective subjects. It runs M. Sc., in Applied Mathematics and Computing. Also, department has started an integrated M. Sc., program with multiple exits.
About the Jangjeon Mathematical Society
The Jangjeon Mathematical Society (JMS), born in historic Hapcheon, seeks to carry on Hapcheon's proud tradition of excellent scholarship coupled with unquestionable moral fidelity. Loyal to its Hapcheon heritage, JMS strives to maintain individual excellence, faithfulness to responsibility, and development of talents and abilities while adhering to core values of contributing to world peace and prosperity. JMS was founded in 1996 to fulfill the aforementioned values through free discussion and cooperation amongst voluntarily participating scholars motivated by a common concern for the general welfare of mankind. This ideal of free and open discussion is mirrored by society's name, Jangjeon, which rendered in pure Korean, meaning "Geul-Baat", the place of studies.
The JMS publishes two journals, namely Advanced Studies in Contemporary Mathematics and Proceedings of the Jangjeon Mathematical Society.
