4th NACML – 2020 Spotlight

Welcome to 4th NACML – 2020

Modern libraries spend a huge amount of money on building infrastructure, collection development and providing access to various information resources including e-books, online journals and online databases to meet the information needs of their users. In fact, not all users regularly visit the library and make use of the services mainly due to time constraint and lack of awareness on a variety of information resources that are available in their libraries. Innovation in technologies, including social media, have revolutionized the library services and have also given opportunities to support and connect the users with their libraries. One of the most significant advantages of the digital era is the fact that it presents a wide array of choices, to access the library subscribed content without any time and place restrictions. As more users access library resources and services remotely, it has become increasingly important for library professionals to reach out to their users and promote the value of libraries and teach information literacy skills to them. Transformation of the libraries from print to digital and developments in ICT has given rise to many opportunities and challenges to the library professionals in reaching out to their users. Library professionals need to keep themselves abreast with the new technology and should develop strategies using which they could reach out the maximum number of users with minimum effort and attract them to their libraries.


We are very glad to inform you that SEARCH - The KMC Health Sciences Library and Department of Library and Information Science, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, Karnataka has been organizing its " National Conference on Management of Modern Libraries (NACML)" under different themes since 2014. In this series of NACML, we have organized 1st NACML-2014, 2nd NACML-2016  and 3rd NACML-2018 at Manipal. 4th NACML-2020 is being held on 10-11 January 2020 on the theme "Reaching Out Users in the Digital Era: Opportunities and Challenges."
