About MAHE

Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) is synonymous with excellence in higher education. MAHE has been accorded the status of Institute of Eminence (IoE) by HRD, Government of India. Over 28,000 students from 57 different nations live, learn and play in the sprawling University town, nestled on a plateau in Karnataka’s Udupi district. It also has nearly 2500 faculty and almost 10000 other support and service staff, who cater to the various professional institutions in health sciences, engineering, management, communication and humanities which dot the Wi-Fi-enabled campus. The Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal was established in 1957 as one of the first self-financing engineering colleges in the country. MIT offers a Bachelor’s and Master’s program in engineering streams. It also gives students the option to carry out full-time or part-time research. The institute undertakes sponsored research programs supported by funding agencies such as DST, CSIR, AICTE, and the Ministry of Environmental Sciences. It has collaborative research programs in association with premier research laboratories and institutes in India and abroad.







About MCNS

The Manipal Centre for Natural Sciences (MCNS) was started in 2011 under the Manipal Advanced Research Group (MARG). The primary aim of MCNS is to nurture fundamental research in the Natural Sciences and grow into a hub of excellence within Manipal Academy of Higher Education. In 2012, the fledgling MCNS came into its own as a Centre of Excellence under Manipal Academy of Higher Education. It is one of the first dedicated “all-research” Centers to be started within a University.

From its inception, a unique and vibrant academic program has been initiated and integrated with existing research at partner institutions in India and abroad. Since its inception, this “all-research” Centre has been striving to promote fundamental research in the forefront areas of natural sciences by encouraging independent and creative thought essential for scientific pursuit. The Centre presently has both academic and research programs. Building on its core strength in physics, MCNS is now expanding to include, earth and planetary sciences, chemistry, and computational sciences, as part of an ambitious mandate.
