About Symposium
We like to invite you to participate in the “International Symposium on Nuclear Astrophysics (ISNA - 2023)) to be held from October 30
th to November 3
rd, 2023 at Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal. It is jointly organized by the MAHE, Manipal (India) and the INFN-LNS (Italy).
The aim of this symposium is to bring together a diverse group of researchers across the globe who works on nuclear physics (experiments and theory), and astrophysics & astronomy (observational and experiments) to serve the needs for growing interdisciplinary branch of Nuclear Astrophysics. One of the objectives of the meeting is to educate Ph.D students, Postdocs and young Researchers in the field of nuclear astrophysics.
The symposium will deal with both, various astrophysical issues - ranging from nucleosynthesis to stellar evolution - and nuclear physics topics, including novel experimental approaches, radioactive ion beams, indirect methods, and plasma physics (in stars and in the laboratory). The present edition will be mainly focused on following themes:
1. Introduction to Nuclear Astrophysics
2. Big Bang and Light Element Nucleosynthesis
3. Stellar Structure and Evolution
4. Observative abundance measurements
5. Cross section measurements with direct and indirect techniques
6. Novae and Supernovae Nucleosynthesis
7. Explosive Nucleosynthesis: Experimental cross section Measurements
8. Nucleosynthesis beyond iron peak
9. Future perspectives for India in nuclear astrophysics in a global context
The talks will span a wide range of aforementioned themes covering experimental, theoretical, observational and evaluation developments using theoretical tools (e.g. R-matrix). The lectures will be given by high-quality level scientists, selected for their didactical skills and solid scientific background. In the spirit of the meeting, large room will be given to young researchers’ oral contributions from all over the world. Specific sessions will be allocated to allow them to present their latest scientific results.
The symposium aim should be to focus the attention on young researchers from the Indo-Pacific region, although the event will be open to all nations. Due to limitations on the number of participants, proposed to be around 80, the national and overseas students will be selected based on their research contributions.
It will be held at Sir M. V. Seminal Hall, MIT Campus, MAHE, Manipal -576104. The lectures will be starting on Monday morning (October 30, 2023) and will end on Friday evening (November 3, 2023). Arrivals will be scheduled on October 29, departures on November 4. “ ISNA – 2023 has been actively supported by various national funding agencies like SERB, DAE-BRNS, and INSA etc.
