Manipal Academy of Higher Education
Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), an Institution of Eminence Deemed to be University, is a self-financing higher educational institution that started its operations in 1953 by establishing the first self-financing medical college as Public Private collaboration model. Over the years various institutions have been added and finally, in June 1993, this group of institutions have been declared as a Deemed to be University by the Govt. of India. Its excellent track record in academics, infrastructure, and research contributions and its standing in the national and international rankings, culminated in it being declared as an Institution of Eminence Deemed to be University (IoE) by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, in October 2020.
MAHE is synonymous with excellence in higher education. Over 35,000 students from 60+ nations live, learn, and play in the sprawling University town, nestled on a plateau in Karnataka’s Udupi district. It also has nearly 3000+ faculty and almost 10000+ other support and service staff, who cater to the various professional institutions in Health Sciences, Engineering & Management, Communication, Humanities, Liberal Arts, and Social Sciences, etc. which dot the Wi-Fi-enabled campus.
The MAHE has off-campuses in Mangaluru, Bengaluru, and Jamshedpur and an off-shore campus in Dubai (UAE). The Mangaluru campus offers Medical and Dental programmes. The Bengaluru campus offers programmes in Regenerative Medicine, Engineering, Art & Design, Humanities, Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, Law, and Management. The Dubai campus offers programmes in Engineering, Management, Architecture, Information Sciences, Media Communication, etc.
Every institute has world-class facilities and pedagogy, which are constantly reviewed and upgraded to reflect the latest trends and developments in higher education. Manipal School of Architecture and Planning
The Manipal School of Architecture & Planning (MSAP), is a constituent of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, (MAHE) started in 1978 with a Bachelor of Architecture degree under Mysore University. The institution came under the newly established Mangalore University in 1980 as Department of Architecture. In October 2003, MAHE renamed the Department of Architecture as Faculty of Architecture and in April 2018 Faculty of Architecture as Manipal School of Architecture & Planning. In 2010, it became the 22nd institute of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, India.
Design is an act of making an environment where we shape and develop our surrounding to suit our physical and psychological needs. Design thinking is used in all professions as a verb or skill to develop solutions suited to the context and person/people. MSAP believes in training designers in theoretical as well as practical problem-solving; and hone their design thinking. MSAP offers new openings for its students to follow their creative pursuits while building their professional careers under the guidance of highly experienced Faculty.
MSAP offers courses in Architecture, Urban Design, Interior Design, Product Design, Fashion Design & Management and Sustainable Design at undergraduate and post-graduate level.

About Manipal
Manipal is a suburb and university town within Udupi, in coastal Karnataka, India. Manipal is located five kilometres away from the centre of Udupi City, in Udupi District, Karnataka (state) in southwestern India. It is administered by the Udupi City Municipality. The suburb is in coastal Karnataka, 62 km north of Mangalore and 8 km east of the Arabian Sea. From its location on a plateau, at an altitude of about 75 meters above sea level, it commands a panoramic view of the Arabian Sea to the west and the Western Ghats to the east.
Home to the Manipal Academy of Higher Education, the town attracts more than twenty-five thousand students every year, hence most of the population consists of students or university staff. There are numerous spots throughout the suburb that attract students from nearby Mangalore and Udupi such as End Point, Manipal Lake, Malpe Beach, and Peacock Point. The city owes its development to Manipal Academy of Higher Education for converting this into a student city. It is called "Campus Town" by the locals.
Climate: From September to February, the weather in Manipal is tropical with daily temperatures averaging 27 °C (81 °F). From June to mid-October, Manipal witnesses one of the most extreme monsoons in the world, with the annual precipitation ranging from 500–560 cm (200–220 in). The months of December to May are hot and humid, with the daily temperatures typically peaking at 35 °C (95 °F).
